EMC Squared – A New Formula For Events

Erin Yeschin – owner of  EMC Squared

Today we would like to introduce you to EMC Squared. EMC Squared is an event planning company founded by Erin Yeschin, who takes great pride in turning her client’s tap water budget into champagne.

Erin’s pursuit of EMC Squared started at an early age. As a child, she would host tea parties for her extended family, otherwise known as her stuffed animals. Young Erin always spent more time filling plates and teacups than she did ever really participating in the festivities, herself.  As an adult, she found herself working with various clients in different companies and realized she had a great knack for finding inexpensive alternatives to getting the clients what they wanted. Erin recalls working for other companies and struggling with the idea as to why they could not cater to every price point, particularly when it came to charity. So, it was then in 2008, that she decided to venture out on her own and help those who needed “platinum quality but had only a bronze budget.”

2008, as you probably all recall was not a promising year for a start up company and the few years to follow were certainly filled with financial hardship. Most of us have also learned by this stage in life though, that struggle often yields great conflict resolution and character and Erin certainly does not regret the invaluable lessons she learned. So she plowed through her obstacles with new and inventive ways to achieve the same top-tier events at a fraction of what it would typically cost the client. Besides, creating noteworthy events on a budget is what she had set out to do.

When Erin Yeschin initially decided to start her company, it was solely based on producing events and primarily marketing consultation for non-profits and charitable organizations. Since her initials at the time were EM and Erin Mikosz Consulting with a Conscience was quite a mouthful, she condensed it to little ole’ EMC Squared.

EMC ‘s approach to event planning involves ushering individuals from client to family status by incorporating them into the entire planning process and working together to find ways to facilitate their event flawlessly but within their financial means. Often times the EMC Squared team will pull key pieces that the client already owns and finds meaningful and recycle those pieces into their planning. This process keeps costs down and creates a great nostalgia the day or evening of.

We asked Erin what she thought really set her event planning company apart from other event planning companies and she responded, “ We like to think we’ve made the perfect marriage between party planning and old-fashioned ingenuity… We plan “moments and memories…” “Neither of which have to be expensive to make an impact.”

Rather than offering event and wedding packages, EMC Squared takes each client’s vision and builds a custom quote around their price point. This approach ensures that the client’s unique vision is executed thoroughly and without damage to their pocketbooks.

Erin goes on to tell us that patience, creative thinking, and a sense of humor are all key skills anyone interested in event planning should have and hone. “Being severely organized (dare I say, OCD) doesn’t hurt either, “ she jokes.

We are always curious to know what two of an event planner’s most memorable event’s were and Erin tells us that she worked on one that was held in Texas. This particular event ran for three days with one event per day in separate cities. That event had benefited the local communities and their food centers. The other was an event for a Drug and Alcohol Awareness foundation held in the center of Hollywood. Not only did hundreds attend it, but the place was rockin’ all night long without a drop of alcohol anywhere!

Erin’s favorite part of running an event planning company is the looks on the client’s face when they see their vision come to life. She also loves that there is little to no chance of monotony in what EMC Squared produces. No party is ever the same, even the annuals.  “There will always be exciting ways to take an old idea and make it new, fresh and fun,” she says.

EMC Squared does take on interns and loves building a family dynamic from within.
